Hello, I’m Dev! I’ve been a DM for five years now, running both long term campaigns and one shots. I live in California and work as a professional dungeon master full time. In my free time I love playing dnd with friends and hanging with my cats.
What kind of Game Master are you?
I consider myself to be a rules expert (on a scale of 1-5, 5), but not a rules lawyer. I tend to rule in favor of RAW, but my players describe me as someone who will also allow ‘the rule of cool’ on occasion. My favorite part of DnD is the combat. I love epic and rich combat descriptions. I tend to tailor combat to the specific players and characters within the group, so that combat feels more purposeful to the characters. My players have described my combats as both challenging but fair, and defeating an epic boss rewards them with an incredible sense of accomplishment. I am also a very good rper, going with the vibe of what the group wants. I run a variety of different campaigns, 14 professional, and they all have different atmospheres.
My philosophy on dming is that it’s a cooperative experience between the dm and players to create a fantastical story and epic combat experience. At the end of the day, I want my players to succeed and have an awesome time. And everyone should have a moment to shine in the spotlight.
