About the Position
The position of Adventurers League (AL) Dungeon Master (DM) aboard the D20 Cruise is responsible for planning and hosting two x 4 hour sessions of Adventurers League modules on 3 of the 5 days of sailing. In addition to running these official Adventurers League modules each AL DM will be responsible for supporting their assigned players including Q&A’s, character creation, character levelling or other D&D related requests to ensure the guests have a fun and memorable experience. Our community is a great bunch so we expect this to be a fun and relaxed setting to really let the first Adventurers League at sea thrive with your help. Event.Cruises will be hiring up to 26 Dungeon Masters for this event from Los Angeles or in the area by time of sailing through the duration of sailing (Share away!).
The Sailing departs April 27, 2024 and returns May 2, 2024 to Port Canaveral (Orlando area), Florida. This position is seasonal (once a year currently) and may require remote tasks leading up to the cruise; including your selection criteria for AL modules, material/resource requests and other related preparation for the Adventurers League at Sea event aboard the D20 Cruise. We will do our best to supply you with the best kit possible aboard the ship including tabletop maps, printouts, books, etc.
The position of Adventurers League (AL) Dungeon Master (DM) aboard the D20 Cruise is responsible for maintaining an organized table aboard the ship as well as managing the timing and activation of several D&D AL sessions for your daily assigned player parties. Where necessary they may also manage guest issues relating to the Adventurers League modules or work with the Adventure League organizers to resolve any gameplay or event issues. The Adventurers League Dungeon Master (DM) will also assist with any content planning for their party leading into the sailing and the onboarding of Adventurers League players.
The the ideal AL DM is one that is friendly, accommodating to all player skill levels and perceptive towards player interests. We’re looking for individuals that are capable of managing an several parties worth of players aboard the event alongside several other Dungeon Masters to ensure the guests have a fun and inclusive experience. They will be capable of guest relations as well as time management for AL sessions and low-level conflict resolution for rulings as needed. They must be friendly, personable and knowledgeable of the D&D fifth edition system, specifically the newest Adventurers League rules or modules at the time of event.
The Adventurers League is 3 of 5 days and generally planned for timeslots well into the late afternoon and evenings allowing both AL staff to enjoy some time off the ship or around the ship for any number of amenities aboard the cruise ship. Some additional things of note through the D20 Cruise are World Building Workshops by World Anvil’s founders, painting stations to practice painting tabletop minis, photos-scavenger hunts for prizes and charity and more in the works. The idea is a fun, all inclusive tabletop RPG experience while on vacation. As we say, beach by day, dice by night!

Responsibilities:
— Perform for 2 sessions on 3 of 5 days of the sailing. Times are TBD per sailing
— Assist in the creation of any Adventurers League Dungeon Master supplemental content for the modules to run it as you see fit including maps, terrain, etc.
— Utilize Adventurers League Dungeon Master Safety Tools and ensuring adherence to the event’s Code of Conduct for yourself and players at your table.
— Build a list of required materials or content required to successfully run the Adventurers League at sea activities. This includes things needing to be printed out, require internet access or special accessories that need to be pre-purchased outside of the basic kits we bring aboard.
— Manage guest issues on site with no-shows, table changes, start and end times of sessions in a timely manner.
— Manage player issues calmly and quickly to continue playing as much as possible, then escalate any larger issues to the AL Organizers or Event.Cruises Crew for any other disputes as needed.
— Act as an arbitrator for rules and resolve low-level conflicts between guests should any arise.
— Assist in the final selections of modules, mini-games or other content requests by the Event.Cruises team to enhance the event. Your opinion to enhance the event is encouraged!
